    2nd Saturday Bird Walks are intended to help beginning and intermediate birders with bird spotting and identification techniques. There are also plenty of opportunities provided for participants to ask questions from experienced birders. Prairie, woodland, and wetland habitats are included in these walks. This program is typically offered monthly from September through June annually. These walks begin promptly at 8 AM and last 1.5 hours. This program is included in general admission and is free for Heard Museum members.

    During our Zip Line Days, guests climb a 23-ft. tree to our zip platform and then proceed to a 487-ft. zip line. Purchase one ticket ($12 each) for each time you would like to travel down the zip line. Pre-registration is required.

On December 9 and 10, 2022 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., Holidays at the Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary will bring the beauty of the holiday season into nature.

    FOR FRIENDS MEMBERS ONLY. Spend a night of family fun at Stars & S’mores at the Nature Center. A variety of entertaining activities will be available for all ages, and the makings for s’mores will be provided next to a roaring fire. After roasting your marshmallows on a stick and enjoying your s’mores, take a guided night hike or make your way to the telescope provided to view the stars and constellations. Free – for members only.
