Established in 1976, Jetco Delivery functions to provide trucking and freight brokerage needs throughout the Gulf Coast and surrounding states. Jetco’s diversity of vehicles and trailers enables them to provide a wide range of offerings for their customers. According to theU.S. EPA, freight transportation associated with economically beneficial global trade negatively impacts the environment and public health. In fact, experts project that global freight transport emissions will surpass those from passenger vehicles by 2050.
Jetco is committed to reducing their contribution to this problem and supporting the long-term health of the communities they serve. That means taking care of the environment through emissions reductions. As transportation technology evolves, companies like Jetco can use a combination of smart planning and fleet management to make a big impact, including:
Fleet updates focused on efficient fuels and updated technologies
Smart route planning, reducing time on the road
Safe payload maximization allowing for fewer overall trips
Ensuring that sustainability is a part of company culture
Project Description & History
As part of their commitment to protecting the environment, Jetco continually reinvests in their fleet to accomplish the following goals:
Reduce breakdowns and therefore time spent running trucks on the road
Maximize payloads with lighter equipment that can haul heavier freight, which in turn reduces the overall number of trucks on the road
Exceed minimum emission regulations requirements
Protect the environment through increased fuel economy and cleaner-burning vehicles
Jetco has been a U.S. EPA Smartway Certified Carrier since 2012, and they were awarded the Port Freeport Stewardship Award. All Jetco company trucks feature aerodynamic dry van skirts that are:
EPA SmartWay Verified Advanced Category
C.A.R.B. Compliant
EPA GHG Base BIN 3 pre-approved
Working with Port Freeport, Jetco used the Heavy-Lift Corridor to reduce the number of trucks required on the road by 40% and CO2 by 2.1 million pounds. Details on the Heavy-Lift Corridor can be found on the Port Freeport’s website. Additionally, 80% of Jetco’s current fleet is less than 5 years old, and each year, they replace older models with new trucks that meet emission regulations and protect the environment through increased fuel economy and cleaner-burning vehicles.
Community Impact
In 2022, Jetco invested in 4 bobtail Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) trucks, which have the capacity to run 500-600 miles, based on normal fuel tanks. CNG is a form of Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) used in transportation. RNG leverages existing infrastructure and significantly reduces the emission of nitrogen oxides and particulate matter, benefitting local air quality. Compared to fossil natural gas, RNG contains zero to very low levels of constituents such as ethane, propane, butane, pentane or other trace hydrocarbons.
Jetco makes daily, on-time deliveries seven days/ week, 362 days/year
In its first year of operation, Jetco delivered 298 pallets from the manufacturing facility and 25,714 items to 12 different locations within Texas
The CNG trucks cover approximately 500,000 miles across Texas annually, saving 10 tons of CO2 per year compared to diesel trucks
