Keep Irving Beautiful Receives Funding from Arca Continental Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages
Texas Water Action Collaborative Facilitated the Partnership

IRVING, TX – Corporate and conservation partners are coming together for community cleanups to decrease litter in the Trinity River Basin area.

This milestone is a major move for Keep Irving Beautiful (KIB) in its mission to engage the community in one of its main focus areas – litter abatement – with the specific goal of preventing litter from reaching the Elm Fork of the Trinity River.

The Texas Water Action Collaborative’s (TxWAC) partner, Arca Continental Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages, is financially supporting the project. Led by Texan by Nature, TxWAC is a coalition of industry, nonprofit, and governmental organizations established in 2021 to match companies and funders with conservation projects to positively benefit Texas’ water resources.

“KIB is very grateful for the funding from Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages, which allowed us to purchase cleanup supplies for our volunteers,” said KIB Board President Scott Wilson. “Our first event after the donation was our largest of the year, the 31st Annual Trash Bash, held at T.W. Richardson Grove Park on Sept. 24. There were 409 volunteers who participated, and they collected 860 pounds of trash and 410 pounds of recyclable materials. That volunteer total included CCSWB employees, who not only worked to pick up litter, but also supplied Coca-Cola products and a bottle recycling station.”

“At Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages, sustainability is a key part of everything we do. Our associates were thrilled to have this opportunity to engage with the community and help keep our waterways clean.” said Abraham Tueme, Director of Sustainability. “Partnering with local organizations like Keep Irving Beautiful help us get closer towards our vision of a World Without Waste, and we appreciate the role Texan by Nature has in connecting us and facilitating these projects.”

This news comes in the wake of KIB’s recent accomplishments during its 2021-22 fiscal year, including:

  • 30 cleanup events
  • 1,211 volunteers at events with 2,771 hours of service
  • 4,193 pounds of trash and 1,587 pounds of recyclables prevented from reaching the Elm Fork of the Trinity River

“Texan by Nature’s mission is to advance conservation. We are doing just that through TxWAC in our efforts to accelerate investments in conservation, and are thrilled to see partnerships created between organizations like Coca-Cola SW Beverages and Keep Irving Beautiful that create meaningful, on-the ground impact.” says Taylor Keys, Program Director at Texan by Nature. “Corporate investments in conservation are critical to ensuring the sustainability and resilience of our state’s natural resources as Texas’ population continues to grow and thrive.”
