Memorial Park Conservancy

Memorial Park Conservancy is a private, nonprofit organization that operates and maintains 1,100 of Memorial Park’s 1,500 acres. The Conservancy’s mission is to restore, preserve and enhance Memorial Park for the enjoyment of all Houstonians, today and tomorrow. MPC accomplishes this through restoration of native ecosystems, storm water management, improving soils through the BioCycle Program, managing the Native Grow-Out Program, reforestation and tree care,watering and irrigation, invasive species control, wildlife conservation and fire protection zones. MPC is implementing the Memorial Park Master Plan to create state of the art facilities for park users. Each year,approximately 4 million park users visit Memorial Park from over 170 Houston-Area zip codes.

MPC has several Ecological Restoration programs, including: BioCycle, a composting facility for Memorial Park use; Native Grow-out Program, a cooperative greenhouse facility for propagation of hard-to-find plants; a research program that funds undergraduate and graduate level student investigations; a robust volunteer program; educational opportunities; and the capital improvements centered around the Memorial Park Master Plan with an underpinning of ecological restoration.
