John Bunker Sands Wetland Center

Located in the middle of the 2000-acre East Fork Wetland Project, the John Bunker Sands Wetland Center provides education and research opportunities pertaining to water conservation, wetland systems and wildlife management. The John Bunker Sands Wetland Center’s mission is to educate the public and provide research opportunities in the areas of water quality and supply, wildlife management, and wetland systems.

The Wetland Center has partnered with regional school districts, wildlife and conservation organizations and research institutions to develop premier environmental education and research programs focusing on wetland ecology, water conservation, bird migrations and waterfowl studies. The on-site facilities include a staging and exhibit hall; a fully-equipped research lab for use by research groups; a classroom for educational and research use; an observation deck; sleeping quarters for student researchers; and boardwalks extending into the wetland, allowing visitors to view the wetlands and observe wildlife.
