Located three miles south of downtown Dallas, the 106-acre Dallas Zoo is the oldest and largest zoo in Texas. The Zoo is open 364 days a year and welcomes more than one million guests yearly. Dallas Zoo’s mission is to Engage People & Save Wildlife through four core messages: Create Healthy Habitats, Reduce Wildlife Trade, Reduce Climate Change, and Promote Wildlife Safe Purchases.The Dallas Zoo is dedicated to twelve conservation priorities that can help humans and animals in significant areas of Asia, Africa, and here at home in the United States, including wildlife native to Texas! As an accredited member of the Association of Zoos & Aquariums for 35 years, the Zoo provides a home for more than 2,000 animals representing over 400 species.
