Big Thicket Biosphere Reserve

Location: EAST, Texas

The Big Thicket Biosphere Reserve is a collaborative partnership of volunteers who conserve the Big Thicket ecology, promote sustainable economies, and inspire others to be conservation stewards. The reserve focuses on outreach by developing a partnership with the Big Thicket National Preserve, creating a curricula of natural and cultural history for local schools, and advocating for environmental protection in government. The reserve also collaborates with private landowners to create and implement a land management plan. Also, the Big Thicket Biosphere Reserve hosts volunteer opportunities, such as replanting longleaf pine trees and picking up trash along the trails and bayous of the reserve.

Big Thicket Biosphere Reserve became a TxN Certified project in 2022. View their TxN Certification page here.
