Bat Conservation International

Location: STATEWIDE, Texas

Bat Conservation International (BCI) is a collaborative global effort working to conserve the world’s bats and their ecosystems to ensure a healthy planet. Founded in 1982 in Austin, Texas, BCI emphasizes the importance of the over 1,300 bat species worldwide – which provide invaluable services including pest control, pollination, and seed dispersal – and advocates for ongoing bat conservation efforts on a local to global scale.

Using a multi-dimensional approach, BCI works to identify “Significant Bat Areas” for conservation, respond to broad threats that impact bats around the world, empower the next generation of bat conservationists and scientists, educate communities about the importance of bats, and develop public policy frameworks necessary to safeguard bats.
